Treasurer’s Report

documents for review and provided a brief update and responded to questions. 1)
WPSA Financials as of
2) Itemized Categories – YTD
Melanie pointed out there are a number of teacher requests that have been approved, i.e. MP3 web cams, News to U, Buckle Down, on which she is waiting for approval from the district or on invoices. Several accounts and/or committees (Year Book, Land Run, Hospitality, Pickles and Popcorn, Field Day, Library Media Center) still have balances, but expenditures are either pending or events are still to be held. Due to rising costs she said that the WPSA may want to consider increasing some budget items for next year.
Since this was an informal treasurer’s report, no approval vote was necessary.

Pickles and Popcorn Melanie Refvik reported for Susan Morrison. Susan has agreed to chair P&P again next year. She has requested that a parent coordinator be recruited who can help with every P&P day and basically organize and assist with the grade level volunteers. She has also requested that the P&P sign up sheets include a place for email and phone # of volunteers. Melanie reported the additional popcorn popper donated earlier this year has really been a time saver!
Spring Fundraiser - PJ announced the results of the fundraiser; it is less than last year, but still an excellent fundraiser. The money raised from the fundraiser is the basis of our budget for the 2008 – 2009 school year. She extended thanks to Tori Aebi for her leadership and to Dora Randolph for her assistance.
Superintendent’s Meeting – Peggy Covell was unable to be at the meeting, so PJ passed out a limited number of copies of the minutes from the previous Superintendent’s meeting which included a numbers of questions submitted by Wayside parents. She encouraged parents to submit any questions for Dr. Quinn to Peggy by April 21.
(I don’t have a copy of the minutes
so was not sure if the meeting is April 21 or deadline for questions is April
21).
Year book PJ reported that year books are $14 each. If you would like to sponsor the purchase of a yearbook to ensure all 5th grade students receive one, please give your donation to Melanie Refvik, treasurer. Melanie indicated that 300 yearbooks have been ordered and to date, 250 have been sold!

Nominating Committee: PJ announced that a nominating committee has been formed of the following individuals: Carlie Baccus, Pam Bilger and Sara Meszaros. They will submit their proposed slate of officers at the May meeting.
To assist them in their job, PJ asked for nominations from the floor for the following executive officers: Secretary, Vice President/Parliamentarian and President. Although there was some discussion, no nominations were made. Melanie Refvik will continue as treasurer. PJ requested that anyone interested in chairing a committee to contact a representative of the committee directly. She also expressed appreciation for those who have already agreed to chair a committee or continue with a committee for next year.
By Law Change:
PJ passed out a proposed update to the bylaws regarding what constitutes
a quorum. This change is proposed due to the difficulty of reaching the voting quorum
under the current bylaws since the population of the school has been reduced
due to the transfer of the kindergarten to Will Rogers. Mr. Dennis suggested that
“Of those in attendance” be added to the proposed change. This proposal will be voted on at the May
meeting. (PJ, is this the course of action you plan
to take – for some reason my notes were not clear on this.)
The next WPSA meeting will be held
Respectively submitted Patricia K. Mason
