Bartlesville Public Schools proudly hosted the Grand Area regional Special Olympics competition Saturday (4/15) at Custer Stadium. .

The Grand Area region consists of schools and group homes from Craig, Delaware, Ottawa, Mayes, Nowata, Rogers, and Washington Counties. More than 100 athletes and approximately 70 volunteers participated in this weekend's event. This was the first time the event was held in Bartlesville in more than 20 years.

All of the athletes that participated in the regional event are now eligible to compete in the State Summer Special Olympic Games in Stillwater, May 17-19. A send-off ceremony will be held to support the Bartlesville Public Schools Special Olympics team on Wednesday, May 17 at Bartlesville High School in the main entrance (circle drive) on Hillcrest Drive at 7:00 AM.

The BPS Special Olympics team is coached by Naudia Jackson and Brandi Avery.
