Enrollment, Transfers, and Capacities

  • Annual enrollment of RETURNING students is done using the PowerSchool Parent Portal.

    • This applies to ALL currently enrolled students, including 5th graders advancing to middle school and 8th graders advancing to the high school.

    • Parents need to have a PowerSchool account set up for the student. If you have difficulty accessing or using the Parent Portal, please call the student's school site at the phone number shown on this page.

    • Bartlesville High School, Central Middle School, and Madison Middle School will eventually post additional registration procedures for the next school year.

  • Click here to enroll a student who is NEW to the district and would start with us in August 2024 | Spanish version

    • This is only for students who are NOT currently enrolled in any Bartlesville Public School.

    • This is only for students who will not begin classes with us until August 2024; see the next section for those who will be entering classes during the current school year

    • At the Enrollment website, click the Create Account button to get started; the enrollment system login is separate from the PowerSchool Parent Portal.

    • If you have difficulty with online enrollment, please call the Education Service Center at 918-336-8600 between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. Monday-Friday to schedule an appointment with Jennifer Turner, who will assist you.

For transfers from other home districts and posted site and grade level capacities, see the box at the bottom of this page.

Transfers from Other Home Districts (NOT within-district transfers)

  • Board Policy FD on Student Transfers from other Districts (NOT within-district transfers)

Students are eligible to request a transfer a transfer to any district in the state, regardless of where they live.

If you need help with the above transfer process, or if you are requesting a transfer for the CURRENT school year from another home district that serves your primary residence, please contact Christie Young; her email address is YoungCM@bps-ok.org and her phone number is (918) 336-8600 ext. 3530.

State law limits students to two out-of-district transfers per school year, not including re-enrolling in your district of residence. Students in foster care may complete any number of transfers in a given school year. Transfers can be denied by the receiving district if the grade level at a school has exceeded its enrollment capacity, there are incidents of student discipline as outlined in state statute, and/or the student has ten or more unexcused absences in one semester.

Transfers of students with disabilities require a prior joint IEP conference between the district of residence and the receiving district. Capacity limitations do not apply to students whose parent/guardian is an active member of the military or a member of the military reserve on active duty. A child of a parent/legal guardian who is a certified teacher, nurse, librarian, counselor, or administrator in a district may transfer into that district regardless of capacity. Students in foster care currently placed in the home of another student enrolled in a district may transfer to that district regardless of capacity, and foster care students are not subject to the two-transfer per year limit.

District Capacity by Site and Grade Level

By law, the district must post its current capacity by site and grade level on January 1, April 1, July 1, and October 1 of each year. Click here for the most recently posted capacities, but please understand that the actual vacancies vary daily as students come and go. We advise that you complete the online enrollment process; the district routinely accepts transfers wherever it has capacity unless there is an existing disciplinary or attendance concern.
