Bartlesville Public Schools is proud to announce that Angela Gerber, librarian at Wayside Elementary, has been named the Rosen Publishing Oklahoma School Librarian of the Month for September 2026.
The award, new this year, recognizes members of the Oklahoma School Librarians (OKSL), a division of the Oklahoma Library Association, for outstanding service to their school and library communities.
Gerber was selected for her innovative school book club, which pairs a love of reading with hands-on service to the community. As part of the club, students have volunteered at a local animal shelter, applying lessons from their reading to real-world action. She has also built family engagement into the program, creating opportunities for students and parents to read and learn together.
"Being a librarian is the best job in the world," said Gerber, "but being a librarian at Wayside has the added bonus of an incredible staff, wonderful families, and the best readers in Oklahoma. It is an honor and a privilege to serve my Bartlesville community."
The Rosen Publishing Group, founded in 1950, provides print and digital books aligned with school curricula, along with databases and interactive e-books widely used in classrooms and libraries. As part of the award, Wayside Elementary will receive a set of Rosen print titles and a year-long subscription to a Rosen database.
Congratulations to Angela Gerber on this well-deserved recognition.
