At its regular meeting on June 16, the Bartlesville Board of Education appointed Mandy Johnston to fill Jason Sauer’s seat for District 4, which covers the northeast portion of Bartlesville. Sauer stepped down from his board seat after relocating to another district within Bartlesville.
Johnston is a Registered Professional Chemical Engineer with 28 years of experience in the oil refining and chemicals industries. Her career includes technical, operational, supervisory, and managerial roles across Phillips 66 and ConocoPhillips, with a focus on chemical plant operations, facility commissioning, research coordination, project controls, and engineering management.
Johnston and her husband, Michael, have two children who attend Bartlesville Public Schools. Currently serving as Manager of Engineering Services for Energy Research & Innovation at Phillips 66, Johnston leads a team responsible for applying process development methodologies to pilot-scale solutions. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from Oklahoma State University and earned her Professional Engineer license in 2003.
Regarding her interest in serving on the board, Johnston stated, “I believe deeply in the mission of public schools and wish to give back to the school system that has provided my own children with enriching educational experiences.”
