Network Security Incident

MAY 8 UDPATE: POWERSCHOOL IS NOW AVAILABLE

At the start of May 2025, Bartlesville Public Schools detected a network security incident that impacted the availability of many of the District’s computer systems. Upon detecting the issue, the District immediately launched an investigation with external cybersecurity professionals. The investigation is ongoing.

The District's review of this incident will include an attempt to determine what - if any - student and/or personal data was involved. To the extent that the District determines that this incident had any impact on the privacy of student and/or personal data, notifications will be provided to families and staff members as appropriate.

In-person instruction has continued throughout the event, and as of May 7, 2025 internet service and the use of many district computers was restored. Student and staff Chromebooks have remained usable throughout the incident whenever internet access was available, such as with district cellular hotspots.

Access to the Canvas Learning Management System for the middle and high schools was restored on May 7, and the PowerSchool Student Information System was restored on May 8.

The remaining state-mandated testing has resumed both on and off the district's campuses thanks to the support of valued community partners, and it is slated to be completed soon. Advanced Placement testing is successfully underway off-campus, again thanks to community support, and that testing is expected to shift back to Bartlesville High School for the week of May 12.

We appreciate everyone's patience and cooperation as we actively address this matter, and we regret the understandable concern it causes.
